The 12 Houses of the Birth Chart

Every birth chart is divided into 12 sections called houses. Each one covers a specific area of life, and the planets and signs that fall into each house show how that area tends to play out for you.

Houses are the "where" of your chart. Most people know their Sun sign. The houses are where astrology gets specific, and where two people with the same Sun sign can have very different lives.

A note on birth time

You need your exact birth time to calculate accurate house placements. Without it, the houses shift and any reading based on them can be misleading. If you know your birth time, your houses will be calculated precisely when you generate your natal chart.

The 6 Opposite Pairs

The 12 houses are organized as 6 pairs of opposites. Understanding the axis between opposite houses often reveals more than looking at either house in isolation.
